Before coming to Trinidad State, Nyangau spent a season at Black Hills State University (S.D.). While at BHSU, he oversaw recruiting, scouts, travel logistics, and post player development. The Yellow Jackets were one of the top teams in the country in 2024-25 when it came to limiting fouls, turnovers, and getting to the boards, as they ranked fifth, ninth, and 18th in NCAA Division II in those respective categories
In the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC), the top 8 teams qualify for the Conference tournament. BHSU was pre-season picked 9th and finished 4th to host the first round of the RMAC tournament vs New Mexico Highlands. Their season concluded in an RMAC semi-final loss to NCAA Tournament qualifier Colorado Mesa.
He also spent time at Western Colorado, where he coached All-Conference Honorees Rachel Cockman and Ivey Schmidt. WCU also beat Division I opponent Utah State. He spent time at Northern State (S.D.), where he oversaw full team player development. The team was #1 in the NCAA Division II ranks in fewest turnovers committed per game. Northern State beat Division I opponent University of North Dakota.
He also spent time at Upper Iowa University. While on staff at UIU, he oversaw multiple areas of the program, including recruiting, scouting, and player development. In those recruiting classes was Mia Huberty, the 4th All-Time leading scorer in program history.
Nyangau holds a Master's degree in Sport Administration from Upper Iowa and a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management from North Dakota State University.
