Lindberg named Head Softball Coach

Trinidad, Colo. - Trinidad State College Athletic Director Steve Swazo is excited to announce Tessa Lindberg has been named as the new head softball coach.

Lindberg spent last year as the interim head coach at Indian River State College in Florida. She led the team to a 43-17 overall record, 27-13 in conference, including an 11-game win streak playing in a very competitive Region 8 conference.  Indian River was ranked 12th in the nation at the end of the 2026 season.

"I am very excited to have Tessa come on board to lead the Trojan softball program," Swazo said. "Just watching her mature this past year as the interim head coach at Indian River State College showed me that she's ready for this next challenge."

Lindberg is no stranger to Trinidad State as she played two seasons under Swazo in 2022 and 2023. As a sophomore, she appeared in 38 games and posted a .383 batting average for TSC. While at Trinidad State, she was inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and graduated with an Associate of Science degree. 

She then continued both her academic and athletic career at Northern Arizona University. While at NAU, Lindberg helped lead the club softball team to a top-10 finish at the NCSA National Tournament in Columbus, Georgia.

During the 2024 season, she served as team president and took on a coaching role for her club team. She also worked as an assistant coach for the Flagstaff High School varsity softball team during the 2024–25 season, helping guide the Eagles to a playoff appearance in the 4A Grand Canyon Conference.

"We bring in a coach that knows the Trojan tradition and has an understanding and expectations of the softball program that have been established the past 20-plus years," Swazo said. "I'm sure there will be some speed bumps along the way this first year but I will provide her with the support she needs to be successful here at Trinidad State."

Lindberg graduated cum laude from Northern Arizona University in 2025 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management and a certificate in Sports and Adventure Media. She was named to the Dean's List every semester during her time at NAU.
