Lady Trojans win four in Nebraska

Southside Park was a friendly home to the Lady Trojans throughout the month of March, but now that the calendar has flipped the Trojans find themselves on the road for most of April. This past weekend saw TSJC playing six games in three days in North Platte and McCook, Nebraska, and despite the long drive and sometimes extreme weather conditions, the Trojans returned with four wins in the six games. Trinidad swept North Platte Community College on Friday before splitting a four-game set with McCook Community College over the weekend.

With winds blowing at a steady 25 miles-per-hour and temperatures in the upper 30's, conditions were less than ideal for the North Platte series. The bad weather made run support extra important with the defenses battling strong winds to track down any ball hit in the air. After it was all said and done thirty-two runs had crossed the plate, 22 by the Trojans, who used 31 hits to pound out 16-6 and 6-5 wins over the Knights.

Saturday and Sunday featured better weather and better defense. The teams split both days with TSJC winning the first and last games of the series. Saturday's win was ignited by a home run from Olivia Muniz as TSJC scored three runs in the eighth inning for the 6-3 victory. Jessica Salbato picked up her 13th win of the season in the circle. On Sunday, home runs from Elizabeth Aguilar, Chelsey Runyon and Megan Cosslett highlighted the 9-1 victory in the second game. Demi Madalena only allowed one earned off four hits for her tenth win of the season.

Trinidad State (25-10 overall and 10-4 in conference) next travels to Northeastern Junior College for a doubleheader on Friday then travels to Lamar Community College for a four-game series on Saturday and Sunday.
