The first home series of the 2016 season was a memorable one for the Trinidad State Junior College softball team as the Lady Trojans launched 12 monster home runs over the fence at Southside Park and picked up four wins over Garden City and Luna Community Colleges. 

On Saturday, Jessica Salbato threw a 1-hit shutout for the 9-0 win over Garden City in the first game. Isabella Navarro connected for a homerun in that game. Game two had TSJC winning 6-2 behind the pitching of Demi Madalena and a 5-RBI performance from Samantha Glover. 

On Sunday against Luna the Lady Trojans used back-to-back-to-back-to-back home runs, that is four in a row, off the bats of Elizabeth Aguilar, Navarro, Glover and Chelsey Runyon, to take game one by a score of 9-4. Salbato got the win throwing all seven innings. In game two, home runs from Courtney Vigil, Aguilar and Megan Cosslett ignited the Trojans to another come-from-behind 9-4 victory. Madalena got the win for the Trojans. 

The Lady Trojans (8-5) play next at Adams State JV in Alamosa at 3 p.m. on Friday, and then begin Region IX play with a four-game series at home against Northeastern Junior College (1-10) on Saturday and Sunday at Southside Park.
