2026 Scott Awards Announced

The George W. Scott Award is Trinidad State's highest academic award for student athletes. It is named after former Trinidad State Athletic Director George Scott.

The Scott award was first awarded in 1953 to legendary coach John Toupal, who as an athlete at Trinidad State excelled in the classroom while starring in Football and Basketball.

The award is presented to the Trinidad State athlete, or athletes who have participated in one or more major sports over three consecutive semesters and have the highest scholastic record of all athletes over that same period.

The 2026 George Scott Award recipients are:

First, from the Trojan Softball team, Isabella Bruntz. Isabella comes to Trinidad from Thornton, Colorado. When she wasn't striking opponents out on the softball field, she was earning a 4.0 GPA in the classroom while studying Psychology. She plans to further her education and her playing career at McPherson College in Kansas on a softball scholarship.

Our second recipient is Ana Vitoria Vian, coming to Trinidad from Brazil, she was the team captain of both the indoor and beach volleyball teams. She had a great year athletically both on the court, and most recently in helping the Trojans finish fifth in the nation in Beach Volleyball. She also finished fifth in the first ever NJCAA pairs competition with her teammate Sofia. Ana has shown great leadership as a member of the student government and she is a 4.0 Art major, displaying some amazing pieces at the recent art show. Ana will be attending Oklahoma Wesleyan University, pursuing her degree while playing both indoor and beach volleyball.
